RENTAL CONDITIONS
- Authorized Drivers
Only the renter and the second driver (if authorized in this agreement) are allowed to operate the vehicle. - Minimum Age
Drivers must be at least 21 years old to rent a car in Crete. - Fuel Policy
Fuel (gasoline or diesel) is at the renter's expense. The car must be returned with the same fuel level as at the start of the rental. - Geographic Restrictions
The vehicle may not be taken outside of Crete or to any other Greek island without prior written permission from the rental company. - Road Use
Driving on non-asphalt (off-road) surfaces is strictly prohibited. Insurance does not cover damages resulting from such use. - Traffic Violations
All fines and penalties (e.g., speeding, illegal parking) are the responsibility of the renter. - Vehicle Operation
The renter is responsible for the safe and proper use of the vehicle. - Loss or Damage
Loss or damage to vehicle accessories or the car key is not covered by insurance. The renter will be charged the replacement cost. - Accidents
In case of an accident, the renter must contact the rental company or the police immediately. Failure to do so will void any insurance coverage.
CLARIFICATIONS
- Driver's License
A valid driving license held for at least 12 months is required. For licenses not written in Latin characters, an international driving permit is also required. - Violation of Terms
If the company determines that the rental terms have been violated, it has the right to reclaim the vehicle immediately. Dangerous or irresponsible driving may also result in a compensation claim. - Insurance Exclusions
- Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- Operation of the vehicle by an unauthorized driver.
- Failure to secure and lock the vehicle properly.
- Illegal parking or use of the vehicle on unsuitable roads.
INSURANCE & DELIVERY
- Coverage
All renters of vehicles are covered against fire, theft, and liability to third parties for death injury, and damages to property. They also have mixed liability insurance (CDW). - Full Insurance
All our cars can have full insurance with no excess at all that covers all repair costs in case of an accident, this is valid only in case the traffic rules have not been violated.

Pets are welcome as long as they are transported safely (e.g. in a carrier or with seat protection) and the vehicle is returned clean and undamaged. A cleaning fee may apply in case of excessive hair, odor, or interior damage. Please inform us during your booking to arrange pet travel properly.
No, ferry transport of rental cars is not allowed without prior written permission from Elounda Travel. Taking the car off the island of Crete without authorization violates the rental agreement and may void your insurance coverage. If you plan to travel to another island, please contact us in advance to request written approval and receive the necessary documentation.
